Paris vs Dubai: The Invisible Dialogue Between Two Architectural Worlds

On one side, the dressed stone, the moldings that sculpt shadow and the magnetic charm of past centuries. On the other, lines of glass defying gravity, a zenithal light, and a boldness that redefines the contours of the future every day.

Paris vs Dubai: The Invisible Dialogue Between Two Architectural Worlds
Nice Hunter Design

At first glance, Paris and Dubai seem to be opposites. However, in my daily life as an interior designer between these two metropolises, I see not a fracture, but a fascinating dialogue. For Nice Hunter Design, the challenge is not to choose a side, but to create a synthesis: to import the soul of the old into the purity of the new, and contemporary fluidity into the structured framework of history.

Light: Tame vs Celebrate

In Paris, light is a precious guest, sometimes shy. Haussmannian architecture has learned to court it: large trumeau mirrors are placed above fireplaces to reflect the sky, and satin finishes are used to amplify clarity. Here, luxury lies in the nuance and softness of half-tones.

In Dubai, light is a raw material, almost too generous. The challenge changes nature: it is no longer about seeking it, but sculpting it. We play with airy drapes, modern mashrabiyas, and shadow play to create a sense of freshness and intimacy.

My NHD approach:I like to infuse the rigor of Dubai's solar filters into Parisian interiors to create cozy atmospheres, and use French reflection techniques to give unprecedented depth to the villas of Jumeirah.

Materials: Patina vs Purity

The Parisian charm is nourished by what has lived. We love the Hungarian Point parquet that tells a story, the lime that breathes on the walls, and the velvet that patinates over time. It’s a sensory luxury, rooted in the earth and craftsmanship of Faubourg Saint-Antoine.

The aesthetic of Dubai, on the other hand, celebrates the impeccable. It is the reign of highly controlled surfaces: polished marble, brushed metal, travertine selected for its uniformity, and ultra-matte finishes. Here, one seeks a form of visual perfection, a "white calm" that soothes the mind as soon as one crosses the threshold.

The secret of sourcing:My role as a "hunter" is to break the codes. Mixing a solid walnut table with organic edges (very Paris) with minimalist brass details (very Dubai) allows for the creation of what I call an exceptional pied-à-terre: a place that has a soul, but also a modern and clean signature.

Space: Structure vs Fluidity

The Parisian apartment is a puzzle. One composes with pieces in a row, confidential alcoves, and structural constraints that impose creativity at every moment. It is the art of intimacy and staging every square meter.

Dubai offers the freedom of a blank page. The reign of theOpen Space, double heights under the ceiling, and fluid circulation. Here, space is not counted, it is felt. The challenge is to bring a human and warm structure to these monumental volumes so that they do not lose their function as a home.

Towards a "Third Style": Functional Art

Whether it's renovating a Left Bank apartment or designing a signature interior in Dubai, my quest remains the same: balance.

The design of tomorrow will not be purely geographical. It will be hybrid. It will know how to blend the wisdom of ancestral materials (zellige, wood, metal...) with technology and the fluidity of contemporary spaces. It is this duality that defines Nice Hunter Design: bringing the warmth of history to modernity, and the clarity of the future to the past.

So that every time you cross your threshold, from Paris to Dubai, you finally feel at home, in a place that tells your own story.
